Loon Commons: The MEP Blog
A forum for current and emerging environmental and conservation issues in Minnesota.

The debate begins

by Minnesota Environmental Partnership

Check out the debating skills of Len Anderson when he went toe-to-toe with Frank Ongaro (Executive Director of MiningMinnesota) over the Safe Mines to Protect Our Water legislation that was introduced in the Minnesota State Legislature last week.

Len and Frank were guests on the show Almanac North on Feb. 20, 2009.  The show is a production of WDSE-TV in Duluth/Superior.

Len did a great job laying out the need for the Safe Mines legislation – a “fine tuning” of current law to make sure we protect Minnesota’s lakes, rivers and streams from sulfuric acid pollution created by sulfide mines.
