Lakes, Lakes and More Lakes

by Dave Dempsey, Conservation Minnesota

This was originally going to be a post about Conservation Minnesota’s summertime This Lake Matters contest alone, but there is so much outstanding Minnesota lake content around that I thought I’d highlight it as well.  Summertime at the lake is pure Minnesota.

The 1000 Friends of Minnesota website continues to publish simply outstanding essays from its Voices for the Lakes contest. They are well worth reading and enjoying.

The Freshwater Society has posted winning art submitted by young people for its sixth annual Water is Life contest. The extraordinary art provides hope that today’s youth will be good guardians of water resources.

Finally, submissions for the This Lake Matters contest can submit photos or images through September 6. Finalist images will be posted on our website.  Web visitors will then have a chance to vote for their favorite finalist image (photograph or video) from September 15 through September 30.   The finalist image (photograph or video) with the most votes will be awarded a Flip Camera.
